about

Here we are again for number 23.

1. Shockwave: After having the last few albums start off with slow track I wanted to start this one off with something a little faster and more my usual. I think it fits in well with a lot of my other opening tracks.

2. Climb Out: When life hits you with very difficult scenarios it can be a rollercoaster. Sometimes you can brush it off and just go on with your everyday life but sometimes it hits you like a truck and messes with you so bad that you fall into a hole. Trying to climb out of that hole can feel impossible.

3. Wildcat: Lola, the little cat we rescued and flew back to Oregon. What a little crazy cat she has turned out to be. This one goes out to her.

4. Mountain Air: More wildfires up here, which I guess isn't a surprise to people who live out here. Sometimes though, you get that crisp mountain air that is super fresh and you remember why you live here.

5. Orange Chicken: Nothing spectacular to report on here. I like orange chicken.

6. Aloha Bed: The title of this song happened because I got a new bedsheet for our bed and it has a hawaiian flower motif on it. I have no special attachment to Hawaii or anything, I just really liked the color and the pattern on the sheet.

7. Knocking: One of the mornings our neighbor started knocking on our door at like 5 in the morning. I guess her cat was on our balcony and the owner was worried so she wanted to get her inside. I don't know why the lady banged on our door though.

8. End Goal: This is the feeling of knowing that bad news are coming and dreading the eventual phone call that will deliver said news. It is an emotionally draining situation and when it finally happens, everything stops.

9. Pin Board: The last song was really.... emotional? So here is a song referencing the pin board we have. We collect pins and put them on our little board to show them off. When will we finish said board? Only time will tell.

10. Eternity Awaits: My first title track. This is the second part of track 8 "End Goal". Once the moment of silence has ended and your brain catches up there is a feeling of urgency that cannot be explained. This is how that feeling felt for me.

11. Extraction: Going in for dental work is never fun, especially when you've been bounced back and forth between dentists because you may have more issues than meet the eye. Eventually you just have to brace yourself and get it done. In this case it was a tooth extraction.

12. Banana Shake: My go to drink after going to the gym.

13. Episode 39: So many things ended this summer and one of them was my playthrough of Sakura Wars for the PS4. It took me almost a whole year to finish the game and upload it and it was a wild ride. It had become such a normal part of my weekly routine that recording the last episode was bittersweet. I was glad that I completed the game from start to finish, but it was also kind of like saying goodbye to a good friend. Kind of weird.

14. Fresh Googles: Oh yeah, I got new glasses because my insurance pays for that kind of stuff and I might as well use it.

15. Sequels: One of my previous albums had a song with a similar structure to this and I really like how it came out. This was my attempt of emulating that song's style to create a brand new one. I think it turned out well but I don't think I'm going to be relying on this style too much. I don't want it to get old, you know?

16. Serious: The final song on the album. Nothing special here to be honest. Final tracks are always hard for me because I like to use a style that is familiar to me when I'm making them. For example, I'll try to use familiar instruments, song structures, or I'll use a fade out track to make it feel like it's the end. Final tracks are never experimental because that's what the rest of the album is for. This time however, I tried something a little bit different, using a combination of instruments that I have never used before and using a song structure that I try not to use too often. Also this song does not have a bass line. I guess we'll see how this goes.
